WAR CHIEFS PRIDE [DRIFTER]
is
a 1997 GRAY stallion, standing 15 hands and weighing 1250#.
He runs out with the ranch geldings.
We just catch him when we need him to breed a mare and then turn
him back out. He is a very
heavily muscled horse. He has an excellent disposition and a lot of ability.
He is absolutely un-shakable.
You can’t put enough much pressure on him to make him mad or get
him excited. He has had more
cattle roped on him in the pasture and has dragged more calves to the
branding fire as a 2 and 3 year old than most 5 or 6 year old ranch
geldings.
He is proving to be an
outstanding sire. He puts muscle and good conformation on even plain
mares. His foals and yearling have won or placed at every FQHR show
they've gone to. He sired the 2nd place weanling stakes stallion (a
gorgeous grullo) at the 2002 FQHR Show in Purcell, Oklahoma winning
$497.00 in premium money. This colt came back and won the
yearling colts and geldings stakes class. Drifters Bartender was
2004 High Point 2 Year Old Gelding and High Point 2 Year Old In-Hand
Trail Horse and stood Reserve Grand Champion 2 times in 2004. He was
also 2nd in the Ranch Please Stake. Drifters Bum, won the 2004
Yearling Stake class at the fall OkFQHR show. He sires over 95% grays, duns, and grullos with neat
heads and necks and HUGE hips. FLASH!!!
Two 2005 Drifter colts were just shown October 16, 2005 at the OkFQHR Fall
Show in Purcell, Oklahoma. With 9 colts entered, a Drifter
colt bred and owned by Wolfe Ranch won the very competitive class and
another Drifter colt owned by Buddy Cooksey of Maysville, OK stood
second. Buddy's colt is pictured below. We will
put in a picture of the Wolfe Ranch colt when we can get it from the show
photographer. Both are really nice colts. His first
colts ride
super. Drifter Dunit, a dun 2 year filly placed at every
Foundation Show for two years and placed 3rd in the 2 year old Ranch
Pleasure Stake held Oct, 2003 at the fall Ok Foundation show and was
exported to Germany in 2004. Drifters Bartender is a 2 wear
old that rides like he is 5 or 6. He was 2nd in the 2004 Ranch
Pleasure Stake, I used daily to 'pony' yearlings and was used in our 'Arbuckle
Trail Rides' this year, frequently ridden by children.
One of his colts that
was exported in utero to the United Kingdom has won 8 AQHA classes in the UK and is
the British high point yearling stallion for 2003. This colt
is also the High Point AQHA 2 Year Old Stallion in the UK in 2004.
In 2002,
the Grand Champion stallion and reserve Champion Versatility horse at The
FQHR Round-up in Nebraska was a half brother also sired by Croton Gray.
